Today was the big field day at Reese's school. This has been a tradition since Ben was his age- yep THAT long. In fact, Ben has been aticipating this day more than Reese. Ben was WAY into it, telling me what type of shoes Reese needs, to "make sure he wears athletic shorts", making sure he had 'good nutrition' in the morning and giving him tons of "helpful" hints. He even kept looking over the teacher's shoulder to check how Reese's scores were compared to the other kids. She said, "Gee, you're not competitive at all are you?". Truthfully, I think it was a little slice of heaven for him- him as in Ben of course. Reese had fun too though. He won't get his ribbons until Tuesday but due to Ben's investigative research, Reese will walk away with 2 blue ribbons and one white one. Third place in the 100 yard dash due to tripping and falling in the beginning. I think seeing him fall broke Ben's heart just a little. I had fun just cheering on all the kids and was completely oblivious to any of the competitive stuff.... true to my cheerleading roots. As embarassing as that may be...

Boy does this bring back memories of not placing ahead of Maria and Emily every year. : ) Those two got all the blue ribbons! So fun to see... and to see Coach Manske... the shirt made me choke up a little... how neat that they honored Budish that day. Loved your cheerleader comment. Isn't that so true though? Except for the soccer tournament... outside, in the dark... I think we would all be on antidepressants if we would have lost!
