Good-bye training wheels

Reese has had much trepidation over taking off his training wheels... We've tried all Summer with no luck. The day after school started when a few of his friends were over riding their bikes, Reese chose his scooter b/c he didn't want them to see the training wheels. Ben went out, got his bike out and said, "Why don't we take off just one?". Reese said no but after hearing his older friend say, "Hey that bike looks like a good one for jumps!", he agreed. Unbelievably, in front of his friends, he proceeded to let his dad work with him. He first biked with one training wheel and then the other came off. Success came almost immediately and since then, we can't keep him off his bike! It brought tears to my eyes watching him work with his dad while three other bike riding friends watched and cheered him on. He fell a few times but got right back on. Such a great moment. The video was taken later that night as Reese was still struggling with 'the start'. Another milestone checked off the list.

Oh - isn't that awesome! I got choked up too, watching Ivan take off for the first time too. It's just so neat to see them learn something and "get it!" ... and learning with their Dad. Cool.

Training wheels just come off our H's bike too. :) It's fun to see them be so proud of it!

Very cute! I still remember dad teaching me to bike ride without my training wheels, so it brings me back. That's really neat.
