A good scare...

Yesterday was one of those days. I was at Target with the 2 boys picking up a B-day present for Reese's friend. The boys were being especially rowdy and I was trying to get in and out of there. As we went to the checkout, I had to give several reminders to stay seated (in the cart), put down the candy, quit playing with the checkout table etc. etc... When I turned my back to get the money I heard a loud thump. I turned around to see a security guard running towards me along with several other sales people. I looked down to see Wes in a clump with face to the ground. The security man said Wes had stood up and fallen out landing right on his head! Wes did the silent cry for the first few minutes and then came the shrills. I immediately sat on the floor with him trying to calm him and trying to assess how bad it was. When I picked him up, he was totally limp- from shock I am sure. Suddenly, we were surrounded by about 10 people in red and khaki all giving us ice, advice and worried looks. After Wes calmed down a bit I was able to see that he could walk and that he still had his mental faculties about him (how many fingers am I holding up?). I had to fill out an accident report and shaken, the 3 of us made it back to the car. I called my mom and she quickly suggested getting him checked out. After a couple hours in emergency, we were basically told that since he looks normal, he most likely is normal. The discharge papers literally read, "Come back if symptoms worsen". Thanks. He is now back to his rambunctious self and quietly, I have given many prayers of thanks. It is such a good reminder of in a second how one thing could change your life forever. The economy is tough to be a builder right now and yet, Ben and I discussed how something like this puts life in perspective so easily. I continue to pray that my boys have their own guardian angels on assignment just for them. I truly believe that they do and yesterday, they had to work overtime. So much to be grateful for. Thank you Lord.

Praise God for His ever protecting hand! I am so glad he is ok. And hopefully you are too!It is easy to forget sometimes how blessed we are to have such amazing children from the Lord. But God is faithful even when we don't :)!! You are a good mom. They are lucky to have you.

It made me physically sick to my stomach to read your post. Thank the Lord that Wes is okay. Those moments can be so scary - way to keep your cool! You'll never forget that sound, I'm sure. Hopefully, Wes and Reese won't too. : ) Those scary moments that end up ok are good lessons learned, right? Love you!
