North Dakota

For my Grandma Lollie's funeral we headed to North Dakota where she raised her four kids. She lived in Arizona but will be buried next to my Grandpa in North Dakota (too cold to bury now- will be buried once ground thaws). Her daughter Sandy, my dad's oldest sibling, homesteads the farm with her husband. It is nice to be able to visit the home where my dad grew up... such a beautiful place and so much history. My Grandma actually grew up here as well. Her service was so lovely... such a wonderful tribute to an amazing woman. She will be greatly missed. What a treasure to know she's now dancing with my Grandpa on streets of gold! Below is my dad with my cousin 'Dak' (short for Dakota). Above is My Ant Holly with Dak and below is my Cousin Patrick with his girlfriend Noel. Pat lives in California and the last time I saw him was my Grandpa's funeral 9 years ago. Kinda sad how that happens....
These things can get long for a little fella Ben and my brother Tom rode back together after the funeral and Amber and I stayed an extra day with the boys.
The kids were able to enjoy some real farm festivities... They LOVED it! They even got to swing from ropes in the hay loft- pretending to be Indiana Jones of course. :)

Im so sorry that your Grandma passed away. I love how you know though that she is dancing with your Grandpa now! :o)

That first picture is great Rachel. The beautiful flowers next to a bright and vibrant shot of your grandparents is beautiful.

It was great to see you the other day. Hope all is going well with the parade!

Again, I'm sorry about your Grandmother, but it is so nice to visualize them happy, free from their old bodies, and loving LIFE in heaven... reuniting with their loved ones. Awesome picture!

It is always a bittersweet time, isn't it? I think some of our favorite extended family memories have surrounded funerals... because everyone is there. I remember when my grandma died, our entire family went to the Mall of America and rode the rollercoasters! Seems funny... but it was really cool bonding family times....

Love to you all and LOVE the pics of the boys on the farm. Looks like so much fun! The last one is cute with the cows - bet they thought they were huge!

Beautiful pics and comments Rachel. I remember the farm when I went there with your mom and dad many years ago. Such a storybook place. Love to all!

I hope the time with your family and recollecting about your grandma's life helped bring comfort to you. By the sounds of this blog, you're doing very well with it and, as always, staying positive with God's promises. What a fun time it must have been for the boys to be on the farm. My favorite picture is Wes at the memorial service. That is classic! God's peace and comfort to your family. We love you guys!
