Recently the Meland family (the ones starting the marriage ministry in CO) were in town and we got to visit with them. We miss them so much. Today I just found out that the pole barn near the little cabin they live in burned down from a faulty propane tank. It was a beautiful struture that the youth came from MN to help build as a missions project this last Summer. It housed all of their personal belongings that they've built up for 20 years. It was also going to be their home once they got the upper level finished. Thankfully, there were no injuries but the fire also consumed 20 acres of land. To a family living in a tiny cabin in the mountains, starting a marriage ministry and raising 2 girls, this is devastating news. My heart has been heavy for them all day. If any of you know them and would like to help, or if you just want to help anyway, please let me know. Her family is currently trying to raise money for a shed to house donated items (as there is literally no where to store anything) and hopefully there will be church fundraising efforts. Please be praying for this family. Chris is one of my most dearest friends and its so difficult not to be able to run over there and help with kids, food, whatever. Its such a helpless feeling as a friend (and I'm sure family members as they too all live here). Please pray for God's provisions during the upcoming winter months and that He will comfort them in the midst of uncertainty.
How is this family doing? I cannot imagine going through the loss of everything you own. So, so sad, and especially right before Christmas. I'll say a prayer for their family... I know they sure mean a lot to you guys.
btw... going for one month with no updates? and you got onto ME... tsk, tsk. : ) Love you!!!
